News Release - Barrett Building Restored
In 1951, self-made millionaire entrepreneur, jack Barrett, purchased the property and began a major interior renovation. Most notably, Barrett designed and built a luxurious 5,000 sq. ft. 4-bedroom private penthouse on the building’s second floor. At the time, it was considered a magnificent example of period modern architecture and interior design. The apartment area features an elaborate labyrinth of bedrooms and sitting rooms, a state-of-the-art kitchen and the most modern entertainment electronics available at the time. A selection of woods was chosen to accent the design including curly maple, oak, mahogany, and cedar.

The RadioVision acquisition includes only the red brick structure. The ground floor area previously housed the popular Barrett sporting goods retail operation. The adjoining retail spaces the compromise a pharmacy, lunch counter, and gift shop are not included in the purchase.

The new owners said owning the building is a childhood dream come true and that they are fully committed to keeping the character of the building intact and restoring the original beauty of the unique second floor apartment. “We have every intention of protecting and enhancing this remarkable building and doing all that is necessary to ensure its place in downtown Denison’s history,” said Tull.

RadioVision was founded in 1993 and has grown steadily, currently employing 34 people in its Denison Headquarters. RadioVision also maintains a facility in Richardson where 11 employees office. RadioVision is known nationally for its creative production and marketing expertise primarily in the retail automobile industry. The company’s newest division, Auto Events USA, provides a full-service approach to retail marketing with staffed sales events, direct mail sales training.
